Food Security & Livelihoods
Every person has the right to an appropriate standard of living, which includes the preservation of their food and means of subsistence. With both immediate and long-term solutions, we support this right in Somalia.
Food production and market systems fail when there are wars, natural disasters, or mass migration.
People become unable to support themselves. By ensuring food security and chances for a living for those who have been affected by displacement, we want to lessen these dangers in Somalia.
By merging short-term cash-based emergency help with social protection operations, SCC increases access to food and other basic requirements.
This is done through both standalone and integrated activities. In addition, we assist communities with non-farm revenue generation projects and small-scale food production.
Our graduation models help to prevent dependency while ensuring the most vulnerable are given the support they require.
SCC prioritizes women’s participation and incorporates participatory community practices to design context-appropriate interventions.
We also remain flexible, offering timely support, continual adjustment for rapidly changing contexts, and the best possible contribution to durable solutions. With respect to our target groups, we focus on internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, returnees, and vulnerable host communities.
We give particular attention to hard-to-reach areas.
