SCC

Who we are

Somalia Community Concern (SCC) is committed to innovation and excellence, consistently delivering successful projects for both clients and communities.

For over 35 years, Somalia has endured persistent political instability and conflict, which have eroded social cohesion and led to the collapse of state and community structures. In parallel, land degradation and increasingly erratic weather patterns have left the country highly vulnerable to recurrent and severe climatic shocks—such as prolonged droughts, devastating cyclones, and frequent flooding. These challenges have contributed to widespread loss of livelihoods, extreme poverty, and large-scale displacement.

Despite witnessing a period of development, reconstruction, and peacebuilding, Somalia remains in critical need of assistance at all levels. The urgency of providing emergency support alongside sustainable social and infrastructure development has never been greater to ensure survival and mitigate the risk of future conflict.

Somalia Community Concern (SCC) is committed to innovation and excellence, consistently delivering successful projects for both clients and communities. Established in 2003, SCC has been at the forefront of humanitarian and development responses across Somalia, including hard-to-reach areas. Our work aims to lift poor and marginalized households out of the cycle of dependence by addressing the root causes of vulnerability to environmental and socioeconomic shocks.

SCC’s portfolio spans emergency response, humanitarian relief, and development programs, complemented by civil construction, architectural, engineering, and general services. Since its inception, SCC has successfully completed over 65 projects—ranging from food assistance and shelter to WASH, health, protection, education, peacebuilding, and capacity building—improving the lives of underprivileged and vulnerable populations. SCC also provides infrastructure services to private institutions and government entities. Our approach emphasizes genuine partnerships with communities, local organizations, and government stakeholders to ensure projects are sustainable and responsive to local priorities. SCC teams design and implement interventions with, not just for, the people we serve.

Our dedicated staff support Somali communities in building a better future by delivering tailored responses and services that are multidisciplinary and adapted to each context. By bridging the gap between rehabilitation and development, SCC ensures that interventions during crises lay the groundwork for long-term progress. Only sustained engagement—remaining in communities after emergencies and fostering local ownership—can end the cycle of poverty and support communities on the path to recovery and development.

SCC’s projects are implemented in collaboration with a wide range of partners, including Somali Federal Government line ministries, member states, UN agencies (UNICEF, UNOCHA/SHF, UN-Habitat, IOM, UNFPA), and international organizations such as HRF, ACTED, USAID, INTERSOS, NRC, and Women International.
